Alianca Restaurant, nestled at 98 Cove St in New Bedford, MA, offers a delightful culinary experience that captures the essence of traditional Portuguese cuisine. Diners rave about the warm, friendly service that immediately puts guests at ease, even amidst the hustle of the surrounding neighborhood.
The standout dish here has to be the shrimp Mozambique, which many patrons, including Celeste Andrews, describe as “life changing.” Its bold flavors take center stage, easily surpassing nearby competitors. The Azorean steak melts in your mouth, showcasing the quality and preparation excellence of the kitchen. Moreover, guests also enjoy the calamari Portuguese style and the stuffed, baked jumbo shrimp, praised by James Beeman for their exceptional taste.
Kendra Knox emphasizes the restaurant's generous portions and the nostalgia of classic, old-school Portuguese dishes. Many visitors, like ARonefive, identify Alianca as a hidden gem, commending the busy atmosphere that reflects its popularity. With a charming ambiance, attentive service, and delightful desserts like pumpkin cheesecake, Alianca Restaurant truly stands out as a destination worth any detour. Whether for a casual dinner or a special occasion, it’s clear that Alianca offers a unique slice of culinary warmth and tradition that resonates with all who visit.

Wonderful. Parking is difficult but worth the aggravation. The servers were so warm and friendly. I had felt a little uneasy in the tight congested neighborhood but they out me at ease and made me feel so welcome. The shrimp Mozambique is life changing and far better than Antonio's nearby. Antonio's is also charming and good but for shrimp Mozambique I give Alianca the crown. I also had an Azorean steak that cut like butter and melted in the mouth. The pumpkin cheesecake was a great cap to my meal. If I was driving past New Bedford, I would make a special detour to go here again.

Alianca is an excellent restaurant. The delicious, the service great and the atmosphere nicely casual. Try the calamari Portuguese style and the stuffed, baked jumbo shrimp - both outstanding. I highly recommend Alianca.

Excellent food and portions. Old school, local portuguese food. Not too many places like this anymore. We also enjoy a cappuccino after our meal!

Tried it for the 1st time, and I'm so glad that we did. New favorite restaurant as the service is amazing. Nice gem of a find and will be going back. It's no wonder they are always busy. You are definitely going to enjoy the food.

First time here and the food was amazing got the Spanish style little necks for app and the chicken Mozambique for the main dish. Both were delicious and the service was very fast and friendly.

Alianca is a heavy hitter for Portuguese food in the region. A smaller half-bar and half-dine-in that may look like a hole in the wall, but holds some amazing, traditional food inside. I feel every restaurant has the dish that they’re better at making, but Alianca holds their weight across the board. The food is always fresh, hot, and the service always attentive, even for a random weekday lunch or takeout. The Mozambique chicken/steak are some of my faves (pictured). Most restaurants over-rely on hot sauce or seasoning but here is a chef’s kiss. Authentic flavor with no shortcuts. Love the whole garlic cloves in the sauce too. The baked stuffed shrimp is really good too, but I could keep typing about the food. You should just go, they deserve the love.

This is a great restaurant if you’re looking for great Portuguese food at a great price with a decent portion of food. We got a seat right away and service was good. Parking was street parking. The area is busy on Friday night. There was a few outdoor tables.

Definitely a business you want to spend your money at. Great food, good owner, and workers. My vehicle was involved in a hit and run while I was eating here and thanks to the owner and one of the bartenders the person who hit my vehicle was caught on camera and the owner happen to know the person who hit my car and tracked them down. Very much appreciated she didn’t have to do that but she did. Thank you.
